A few months ago I read about a new Houston company, Greenling, which delivers local, organic produce right to your doorstep. I’ve been researching ways to make buying organic more affordable so I jumped when Groupon offered a half-off coupon. We got our order a few weeks ago and here are some of my thoughts on the process…

The biggest pros are how easy it is to order the food and how many options they have {dairy, fruits and veggies, meats, etc}. It was quick and painless to add my items to the online cart and check-out. I had everything delivered on Monday and it was on our doorstep by 12:30pm. This was much later than I expected it but luckily my mother-in-law was there to grab the big green box so it didn’t sit in the hot Texas sun. Thanks Sue!

Another pro was the prices – Greenling was comparable if not a bit cheaper than my usual Whole Foods stop. Plus, I loved being able to select the local options. I got corn, lettuce, zucchinis and peaches all from around the corner. So cool! The quality was similar to what you would get at your local farmers market too! Just without the hassle.

While I won’t order from them again due to my working hours and their delivery schedule, I really loved the convenience and supporting the local farmers. Greenling just delivers to the Houston area right now but I would definitely suggest trying it out.

With all that said, is there any other options that I should explore?
