Rolling Sushi

Last week I took a class on rolling sushi with a new/old friend.
It's one of those things that I've always wanted to learn.
Especially since I love love love sushi. And so does husband.

Plus, how cool would it be to whip up some spicy tuna rolls for
dinner guests? I think they would fancy me a super special hostess.

So there we were. Me with a bottle of wine and a pad of paper.
Eagerly taking notes as our teacher spouted out where to buy this.
And how to make that.

She cooked, we watched. And then we cooked, she watched.
For two hours.

And as much as I would like to say I'm now a sushi expert,
I still have some learning to do.

It's not that our rolls weren't delicious. Because oh they were.
It's mostly that the whole rolling part is way tricky.
And our rolls came out looking a bit lopsided and lumpy.

But we ate them anyways.
And enjoyed every second of it too.

Because food always tastes a little bit sweeter
when you put love into it.
Don't you think?

So between now and our next dinner party,
I'll be whipping up some sushi and trying to get my rolls
just right.
