Giving thanks, part 2

Tuesday, November 29

We woke up on Friday morning
still feeling full from our meal the night before
and in desperate need of a walk.

So walk we did.

Through High Line Park
which is a public park elevated above the West Side.
The first section was opened in 2009
right before I left for Houston.

Down 5th Avenue
to look at all the pretty window displays.

And to the newly opened 9/11 Memorial.

Our only break was a stop at Shake Shack
around lunchtime. So by the time we sat down
for an early dinner at Scalinatella
we were famished.

Lucky for us, the best Italian meal ever
was about to be consumed. Go there. Please.

To cap the evening, we saw War Horse at the Lincoln Center
and then we rendezvoused with my long lost friend, Katie,
and her sweet boyfriend, David.

When we laid our heads down on those hotel pillows
close to 3:30am on Saturday morning, I couldn't
help thinking how much I had missed this city.
