the beautiful few days we spent in paradise...

Monday, March 16

It's no secret that David and I love to travel especially when it's somewhere warm & tropical. So when our friends Kimberly and Kurt suggested a New Years trip to a resort in the Bahamas at the end of December we couldn't pass it up. And it really was the best way to ring in 2015...with friends, a glass of champers in hand and the beach. The pictures don't do the beauty of Nassau justice. I'll never forget as we were flying in and looking out the plane window straight to the bottom of the ocean. The water is crystal clear and the hues of blues & greens were breathtaking. There's just something about the ocean that is good for the soul.

 {white sandy beaches for miles}

I can't help but share this photo of my amazing Kimberly. She is such a loyal, loving and kind person and I'm so lucky to call her one of my best friends. We spent much of the trip talking about our old stories from college and living in our shoe-box NYC apartment right after graduation. The boys probably got sick of it by the end of the trip (haha, sorry guys). But we loved it! Her birthday last week - so happy birthday my love! Cheers to more couples trips and pink cadillacs :)

Sunset was my favorite time of day. Most nights we would grab a cocktail and find a quiet spot to sit and chat until dinner.

{I'll be sharing more fun underwater photos from our new favorite toy - the GoPro - soon!}

This was our view for most of the five days. We spent the morning curled up in the sun with our books and a pina colada. How nice it was to have time to start & finish two books this trip! I read the The Husband's Secrets & Wild - both amazing reads. In the afternoons we went snorkeling, jet skiing, kayaking and spent a really lovely few hours at their spa. A deep tissue massage is my kind of bliss. :)

Our motto is that life's too short not to get out there and explore the world! We always leave our trips feeling rejuvenated, excited about life and inspired. This trip was no exception.

Life lately

Friday, March 6

It's been so long since I sat down to write a post that I've almost forgotten how to do it. I figured the easiest place to start was a little update of what we've been up to the past few months...according to our iPhones. :) The end of 2014 brought so much heartache but through all of it we have also experienced so many blessings. I'm happy to be back in a spot where I can create and write again. I've missed this blog and all of you. Thanks for sharing in this ride with me, for tuning in and encouraging me to come back to this little place. xoxo

fall is here and I couldn't be happier

Friday, October 17

It just so happens that as I write this my windows are wide open which means a) the humidity has reached more reasonable levels and b) October is in full swing.

The fall is super weird here in Houston, I've said it here before. I'll say it again too: one day it's 95 degrees and the next day it barely reaches 70 which has you breaking out the wool sweaters and boots. But I still get excited about it because it's my favorite time of year which means....

Pumpkin bread, pumpkin candles, pumpkin spice lattes, pumpkin beer...you get the picture. Speaking of beer, there's also football. Re-runs of You've Got Mail (which also happens to be my favorite movie of all time, it's official). Soup weather. The return of all our favorite TV shows - like Homeland (have y'all been watching?! omg, omg). Charlotte's halloween costumes. The stuffing at Thanksgiving. Happy hours on patios. And most importantly, candy corn.

I'm starting to get in a groove with this whole weekly blogging thing too. So yeah, things are looking up. And it's friday. Life is good.

Enjoy your weekend!

Sedona...and the end of summer

Friday, October 10

Hi, hello, it's me again. It's been a while since we last chatted. Is there anyone still out there? I hope y'all are enjoying the fall so far -- how can it be October already? I wanted to check in with these amazing pictures from Sedona to show you. I visited back in September with my mom, my aunt and my cousin and it was one of the most beautiful places I have ever been. I hope you don't mind looking through a few of our photos today...
so so gorgeous, right?!
The Red Rocks glow at sunset. It's magical.
all the lovely ladies in my life
jeep tours are fun
and also...this girl makes me laugh constantly
I swear we didn't plan the matching outfits
but we embraced it and took posed photos like this one all over the place ;)
i swear they made me do it
the world is a beautiful place, you just need look for it in everything!
love my mama so much!
This trail was absolutely incredible, winding in and out of all the cactus plants and takes you up to Devils Bridge where you can see out for miles. It reminded me just how much I miss hiking the Virginia mountains.
a girls trip is not complete without a little wine tasting

Don't get me wrong, I love Texas & Virginia forever amen. But sometimes it's amazing to see a new part of the country. Like Arizona -- what a gorgeous spot, not to be missed. The Red Rocks here are unlike anything I have ever seen. We kept saying it all weekend but the US really is a remarkable and gorgeous country.

PS: If you are interested, we stayed at the Amara Resort & Spa. It was fabulous! And don't miss Elote  Cafe - it's rated the #3 Mexican restaurant in the US!

happy friday, friends!
xoxo
