showers for baby ford

Wednesday, April 16

A few weekends ago, some fabulous ladies hosted a fun and blue baby shower at our house for my dear friend, Callie. She is due in June with her first baby and I couldn't be happier for her. Because she is having a bouncing boy, we decided to keep the decorations simple - with shades of blues being the predominate factor. Here's a peak at some pics from the big day:
When I first moved to Houston, I literally prayed every day that I would find amazing friends here. God definitely answered that prayer with Callie. She has become one of my closest friends here in Texas and I'm so grateful for her sweet spirit and amazing heart. Can't wait to see you become a mama, Cal. Baby Ford is one lucky little man. xoxo

leopard as a neutral

Tuesday, April 15

I love Jenna Lyon's quote: "As far as I'm concerned, leopard is a neutral". And the more I see it in photos, the more I agree...
What do you think?

Artist We Love: Jen Fariello

Thursday, April 10

Wedding season is officially upon us...which obviously means I spent a little bit of time last week looking through my wedding pics again. I just can't help it! Reminiscing about the best day of my life always brings a smile to my face. I'm not sure if I ever mentioned anything about our wedding photographer on this blog so I figured now was as good a time as any. World meet, Jen Fariello. Aren't her pictures gorgeous?! I love the way she captures all of the tiny details as well as the special moments between the bride and the groom. Her portraits are out-of-this-world. And not only is she super talented but she is so easy-going. We loved working with her. Based out of Charlottesville, Virginia, she is your go-to gal for VA weddings. We can't recommend her enough. Even if wedding planning isn't in your sights, I think you will love taking a look at her work. You can view it here and feel free to reach out if you have any specific questions about working with her and I'll do my best to answer them.

5 things you should try this week...

Monday, April 7

Hi lovelies! Happy Monday, did you enjoy the weekend? We did! The baby shower on Saturday was a success (pics coming this week) and we had a busy Sunday prepping for this big week ahead. I start a new JOB today! So there's that. I am excited and nervous to start on this completely different career path. I promise to go into more details once I get my bearings but until then, here are five things to try this week...

Take advantage of the fresh produce and roast some veggies

Stock up now on your cover-ups for the summer

Tired of spending a fortune on fresh spices? DIY a potted wall like so...

Try a new braid

How cute are these place settings! Lettering on white sea glass.

Friday, April 4

Hi! Happy Friday! We are going to be here in Houston soaking up the spring weather (and the pollen). On Saturday, a few ladies are hosting my girl Callie a baby shower at our house. And then Sunday will literally be the day of rest - plus errands, organizing and a sip & see. Phew! I spent yesterday searching for antiques in Round Top, Texas with Rachel. We both found something we loved and walked about 5 miles through the fields in the process. My legs are feeling it today but it was so worth it. If you are in the area, don't miss this amazing experience.

So what are your plans this weekend?  Whatever your plans are they are, I hope you enjoy it! See you back here on Monday! xoxo

// wearing //

Wednesday, April 2

I am heading out tomorrow morning for a day of antiquing & furniture shopping in Round Top, Texas. It's one of the largest flea markets in the country and takes place two times a year about an hour outside of Houston. This year I'm scouring for the new garage apartment and some fun pieces of art. I'll be wearing something like this....comfortable and cute :) Wish us luck!

101 in 1001 check-in

Tuesday, April 1

March was quite a whirlwind and now we are already into April! A quarter of the way through 2014, can you believe it?! I can't! There are some big changes on the horizon so I thought it would be a good time to take a pause and reflect on what I've been checking off my 101 in 1001 list recently.

I officially started this list 144 days ago and since then I've checked 11 things off my list. Only 90 more to go....

Here is the breakdown:
  • Come up with 101 items - completed October 2013; I started checking items off the list shortly after that!
  • Learn how to make risotto - completed January 2014; my mom gave us this fancy risotto pot for Christmas and we cooked up Ina's mushroom risotto on a cold Saturday night. The whole process is way easier than I thought it would be...which is always a happy surprise!
  • Organize the garage - completed November 2013; and it's due for another round of organization after this garage apartment goes up
  • Upgrade to a new DSLR camera - completed February 2014; you can read about it here
  • Take a photoshop class - completed March 2014; I took the BlogShop online course and would recommend it to anyone that needs to learn the program
  • Launch an interview series on my blog - completed October 2013; you can read the Love, Actually series here
  • Do a guest post on one of my favorite blogs - completed December 2013; I post a monthly fashion series over on La Dolce Vita blog and can't thank Paloma enough for having me :)
  • Organize my pantry - completed October 2013
  • Invest in one piece of custom artwork - completed December 2013; I wrote all about our pretty new paintings from Hallie Eubanks here and you can find more about her work here. She is pretty fab!
  • Make our yearly photo book - completed January 2014; here is a sneak peak but I need to share the rest of it with you. I loved the way it turned out this year!
  • Go to Round Top Antique Fair - completed April 2014; the spring show is happening right now so I'll be heading up there on Thursday with my friend Rachel. I can't wait to see what treasures we find!
It's also a good time to reflect on those yearly resolutions you made at the beginning of the year. How are you doing on the goals you want to accomplish in 2014?
